So here goes…

I had the perfect house, the perfect job, the perfect set of friends. My basement had a killer man-room full of parts and gear, Alicia and I would host a spirited poker game once a week in the off season and in the summer there was a crit once a week a half a km from work. The crazy thing is I walked away from it all in December. I packed up my bikes and bid farewell to all the great people I worked with that became some of the closest friends I ever had. As for my house, I handed the keys to my buddy Scott and on the last day I did some farewell burnouts in my minivan before leaving it in the driveway at C-dale for a donation organization to pick up the next day.

There was only one thing that could pull me away from what I had. Mountains. Out of the bright blue sky an offer to work out of Colorado Springs for Sram fell in my lap. I hated thinking about making the decision even though it was a win win situation no matter what I did with the offer. It took 3 days and 2 tries to write the plan that I’m now living out.

Ahead of me is another great job peppered with lots of epic adventures on weekends. It’s a pity moving forward means you have to leave things behind. I’ll always look back at the time I lived in Connecticut with a smile but I belong where I am now. Someday I hope to visit all my good friends again but selfishly I’d prefer if they would just all come and move here.
